Prince George’s County Correctional Center is the county’s secure adult detention facility. The Prince George’s County Department of Corrections, often shortened to PGCDOC, operates it. The Sheriff does not run this jail. Its population includes people awaiting trial, people serving county sentences, state-sentenced people waiting for transport, and a limited number held for other jurisdictions. A Prince George’s County Correctional Center exit record must identify which group and which destination applied.
A pretrial release can follow bond, recognizance, dismissal, or another court order. Secure detention ends, but the criminal case may continue. A county-sentenced person may leave after time served, credit calculation, sentence completion, or a later court change. Movement to the Maryland Division of Correction is a transfer into state confinement, not a return to the community. Confirm a Correctional Center Release
Prince George’s County publishes no online adult roster, released tab, booking archive, or recent-release feed. Release verification is phone and record based. The county’s incarcerated individual information page points callers to official custody channels, while the Release & Records office maintains the intake-through-release record.

- Ask whether the person remains in PGCDOC custody. If not, request the releasable actual exit date and ask whether the event was community release or transfer.
- Search Maryland Judiciary Case Search for the Prince George’s County criminal matter. Review bond, disposition, sentence, commitment, and later order entries.
- If the exit was a state transport, check the Maryland DPSCS locator for the current state facility after intake. Do not use that current-only locator as a historic release archive.

Not found in a current locator does not mean released; transfer, a name mismatch, source limits, or another authority may explain the absence.

The county MPIA portal should receive a narrow request for an existing record. Identify the person, approximate custody dates, and the fields sought. Useful targets include admission date and time, actual release or transfer date and time, release disposition, legal authority, receiving custodian if releasable, and an associated booking photograph if maintained and disclosable.
The first two hours of search and preparation are free under the county’s stated process. Later search, review, redaction, and copy costs may apply. Ask for electronic delivery and a fee estimate. Maryland law generally requires a prompt grant or denial within 30 days, with an interim explanation when production is expected to exceed 10 working days. Disclosure can still be limited by privacy, investigatory, safety, court, and correctional-record rules.

Correctional Center Release Timing
A favorable hearing result is not the same as physical exit from Prince George’s County Correctional Center. County guidance states that normal release processing takes four to six hours, depending on release type. The Release Unit’s actual processing entry is more reliable than the time a judge signed an order.

Transportation After Center Release
Prince George’s County publishes a practical transportation route for people who leave Dille Drive. The county release transportation page lists county bus service toward the Upper Marlboro courthouse and county administration area, Addison Road Metro, and New Carrollton Metro. It also describes a free evening van route toward the courthouse, Landover Metro, Addison Road Metro, and Penn Mar Shopping Center.
The most distinctive rule concerns release papers. A newly released person without money may show those papers to ride the county bus without paying the listed fare. The papers can therefore work as both proof that release processing occurred and a short-term transit credential. The published page does not show an update date, so riders should confirm the schedule at 301-324-2877 before relying on a listed departure.
Family pickup is another option. Reception is the published waiting place, but a driver should not treat an estimated hearing time as a pickup time. Release type, record checks, property handling, and another charge can change the schedule.

Hyattsville Processing Is Not Release
PGCDOC also conducts regional processing at Police District I Headquarters in Hyattsville. That site is not a residential jail and has no separate inmate roster or release list. Staff handle fingerprints, criminal-history checks, warrants, and presentation to a District Court commissioner. The next step is either release under the commissioner or court decision, or transport to Prince George’s County Correctional Center.
The durable evidence may span more than one system. PGCDOC holds the processing record, while the court file can explain the commissioner or bond result. If the person moved to Dille Drive, the Correctional Center’s custody and release channels become controlling. Searching for a separate “Hyattsville jail release” page would follow the wrong facility model.

Adult Correctional Center Release Boundary
Prince George’s County Correctional Center is an adult local facility. Cheltenham Youth Detention Center is operated by the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services and follows different confidentiality rules. Adult PGCDOC, DPSCS, VINE, and public court workflows must not be presented as a way to search a youth’s release or placement details.
Questions about a juvenile matter belong with DJS, the juvenile court, counsel, or an authorized person. This boundary also prevents a youth placement from being mistaken for a second county adult jail.

A reliable Prince George’s County Correctional Center result answers who was held, when county custody ended, why it ended, and where the person went. Names alone can produce a false match, so another lawful identifier should be used when possible. The actual exit time should be separated from the hearing time. The disposition should distinguish bond, time served, sentence completion, dismissal, transfer, or another legal event.
